PRESIDENT OF THE JURY: Stefano Incerti – Director
Writer and director born in Naples. His career in the cinema started between 1978 and 1984 with the production of shorts in super 8 mm film. In 1989 he got a law degree in Naples. Then he moved to Rome where he began working with several cinema and theatre directors, including working for Enzo Decaro as assistant director for “Peter Pan” (1989) and “Ladri di futuro” (1990). In 1991 he worked with the Neapolitan director Mario Martone for the films “Morte di un matematico napoletano” and “Rasoi”. In 1995 he won, with the film “Il verificatore”, the “David di Donatello” and the “Globo d’oro” awards as best debuting director and the “Grolla d’oro” award as best director. In 1991 he competed in the Locarno Film Festival with “Prima del tramonto”. In 2003 he directed the film “La vita come viene”, casting Stefania Sandrelli, Valeria Bruni Tedeschi and Alessandro Haber. In the same year, he directed “Stessa rabbia, stessa primavera”, a documentary on Marco Bellocchio, shot during the filming of “Buongiorno, notte”, shown at the Mostra del Cinema di Venezia – Nuovi Territori. In 2007 he directed “L’uomo di vetro”, a film about Leonardo Vitale, the first mafia informer. In 2009 he directed the film “Complici del silenzio”. In 2010 he returned to Mostra del Cinema di Venezia with “Gorbaciof”, written with Diego De Silva and casting Toni Servillo. This film was shown at Toronto Film Festival and was distributed throughout the world. His newest film “Neve” was released in 2014. Nowadays he teaches cinematography for the “Photography, Cinema and Television” course at the “Accademia di Belle Arti” in Naples.
Davide Franco – Teacher of Editing Techniques
Davide Franco was born in Naples in 1979. He’s a Filmmaker and Video Editor specialized in editing and directing of documentaries and films. He graduated in Scenography and Photography at the Accademia di Belle Arti in Naples. He worked at the direction and post-production of many short films and documentaries awarded and mentioned in renowned film festivals and shown on international TVs. He also worked as editing technician for important television companies and TV producers as RAI Cinema, Sky, Figli del Bronx, Studio Universal, La 7, BBC, Current TV e TeleOggi. Since 2012 he teaches “Editing Techniques” and “Video Editing” at the Accademia di Belle Arti in Naples.
Giovanni Mazzitelli – Director
He’s an author, scriptwriter, actor and producer of many shorts, some of which have won awards at important festivals in Italy and other countries. In 2010 he founded the “Miglio d’Oro” Film Festival in Portici. He collaborated in the film “La Bas – Educazione Criminale”, directed by Guido Lombardi, and “VITRIOL”, directed by Francesco Afro De Falco. In 2013 he debuted as director with “Solving”, a documentary about the difficulties Neapolitan entrepreneurs had to face during the economic crisis. Since 2013 he’s been collaborating with the staff of the “Social World Film Festival”. In 2015 he directed, along with Federica Pezzullo, the short “Eros Kay Psyché” competing in Cannes “Short Film Corner”.
Fabio Balsamo – Actor
Fabio Balsamo was born in Naples and studied at the “Università Popolare dello Spettacolo” where he graduated with the highest grades in Dramatic Art by acting the role of a tetraplegic man. Most of his career is devoted to the theatre. Among his latest acting we remember “I racconti del baule”, directed by Giovanni Merano; “La stanza dei sogni possibili”, by and with Pippo Cangiano; “Il teatrino di Don Cristobal”, by Marcella Vitiello; “Versi Proibiti” directed by Giovanni Merano. Nowadays he’s studying dubbing at the Teo Bellia school in Rome. “Gli effetti di Gomorra – la serie” Part I and II, produced by “The Jackal”, for whom he had worked in the serial “Spin Doctors” for SKY, has made him well known to a wider audience.
Carla De Felice – Journalist and Blogger
Carla De Felice graduated in languages at the University “L’Orientale” of Naples. Cinema has always been her passion. She worked in the field of cinema in various ways: as an extra and responsible of casting for various productions of short films and feature films; in a movie theatre in Germany as a collaborator of screening schedule; freelance subtitler. She is also founder and head of the film section of the blog: www.bandadicefali.it. She also writes about cinema on “Spaccanapolionline”.
